{"id":8290,"date":"2020-08-18T06:52:34","date_gmt":"2020-08-18T03:52:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eamt.ee\/international\/student-mobility\/oppekorraldus-valismaal-oppimisel\/"},"modified":"2025-07-01T19:54:02","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T16:54:02","slug":"organising-studies-abroad","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eamt.ee\/en\/international\/student-mobility\/organising-studies-abroad\/","title":{"rendered":"Organising studies abroad"},"content":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":8287,"menu_order":4,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-8290","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":{"post_image":false,"page_content":[{"acf_fc_layout":"tekstikast","page_text":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When planning exchange studies or internship abroad, it should be kept in mind that it forms part of the studies at the Academy: studies at the EAMT will not stop and your performance during the mobility affects your completion of the study load at the Academy as well as your academic success. Therefore it is very important to clarify the rules regulating student mobility in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eamt.ee\/en\/about\/statutes-and-regulations\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Regulation of studies<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as rules for selecting subjects and deciding which subjects are suitable for the curriculum to which the student is matriculated. The same regulations apply to all students regardless of whether the mobility takes place on their own initiative or in frames of a partnership programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students participating in a study exchange or internship in a foreign country for three months or more are obliged to complete <\/span><b>at least 15 ECTS <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">worth of subjects per semester and apply for their acknowledgement as part of completing the study load of their curriculum at the Academy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All students participating in student mobility are requested to draw up a <\/span><b>study plan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and conclude a <\/span><b>learning agreemen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t before the start of the exchange in the foreign country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upon finishing the exchange studies abroad, students must submit a Transcript of Records received from the host institution to the Registry and Student Affairs Department. Students have an obligation to request the host institution to issue the Transcript of Records as soon as possible after the completion of examinations\/assessments, so that the study results could be promptly submitted to the Registry and Student Affairs Department.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The standard period of study shall be extended by the mobility semesters, when the completed courses amount to at least <\/span><b>15 ECTS <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">per semester. The extension of the student\u2019s standard period of study takes effect once the Transcript of Records has been transferred to the Study Information System.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The students are not required to submit an application to extend their standard period of study, but they must make sure that their Transcript of Records becomes available as soon as possible. Students have a maximum of <\/span><b>5 weeks <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">after the final date of the mobility to submit their Transcript of Records or internship results. If during this period the information regarding the results cannot be obtained from the host institution or internship organisation, the student must contact the Department of International Relations and\/or the Registry and Student Affairs Department to clarify the situation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the volume of studies completed in the host institution is less than 15 ECTS per semester, completion of the curriculum is calculated based on the requirements of full-time study (i.e. 30 ECTS per semester). The permitted credit point deficit is a total of 6 ECTS for all previous semesters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students whose mobility results arrive at the Registry and Student Affairs Department by the <\/span><b>penultimate working day of February (for autumn semester) and September (for spring semester) at the latest,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may apply for a <\/span><b>needs-based study allowance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student mobility is not allowed during the additional year or extended study period.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who transferred subjects worth at least 15 ECTS per semester to their curriculum, are not required to make up a study deficit when calculating tuition fees for semesters spent abroad, and are also not required to pay for a <\/span><b>credit point deficit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the case of two semesters spent abroad, not including the study deficit in the calculation of tuition fees only applies to the first semester after the mobility abroad (not two consecutive semesters, as one might expect based on the duration of the exchange).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the subjects completed abroad are not a sufficient equivalent of 15 ECTS, it may be necessary to complete more subjects during the semester following the mobility to avoid tuition fees in the following semesters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Full-time students enrolled in curricula in Estonian and students studying with targeted scholarships in curricula in English shall not pay a tuition fee for the mobility period.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fee-paying students and part-time students shall pay a contractually binding tuition fee also for the mobility period.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What happens if these obligations are not fulfilled?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the student has received a mobility scholarship mediated by EAMT but fails to comply with the contractual obligations, he\/she is generally obliged to pay back the scholarship. Please read the regulations of the specific exchange programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For information on programmes and financing please contact the <\/span><a
