Now<\/span> regarded<\/span> as<\/span> one<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> finest<\/span> cellists<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> younger<\/span> generation,<\/span> Alexander <\/span>Chaushian<\/span> has<\/span> performed<\/span> extensively<\/span> throughout<\/span> the<\/span> world<\/span> as<\/span> a<\/span> soloist<\/span> with<\/span> orchestras<\/span> such<\/span> as<\/span> the<\/span> Royal<\/span> Philharmonic<\/span> Orchestra,<\/span> the<\/span> Philharmonia,<\/span> the<\/span> Academy<\/span> of<\/span> St<\/span> Martin<\/span>–<\/span>in<\/span>–<\/span>the<\/span>–<\/span>Fields,<\/span> The<\/span> London<\/span> Mozart<\/span> Players,<\/span> The<\/span> Vienna<\/span> Chamber<\/span> Orchestra,<\/span> Orchestre<\/span> de<\/span> la<\/span> Suisse<\/span> Romande<\/span>,<\/span> The<\/span> Boston<\/span> Pops<\/span> and<\/span> The<\/span> Armenian<\/span> Philharmonic,<\/span> and<\/span> has<\/span> given<\/span> highly<\/span> acclaimed<\/span> performances<\/span> in<\/span> such<\/span> venues<\/span> as<\/span> London\u2019s<\/span> Royal<\/span> Festival<\/span> Hall,<\/span> Queen<\/span> Elizabeth<\/span> Hall<\/span> and<\/span> Wigmore<\/span> Hall,<\/span> Sala<\/span> Verdi<\/span> Milan,<\/span> Konzerthaus<\/span> Vienna,<\/span> Suntory<\/span> Hall<\/span> Japan,<\/span> the<\/span> main<\/span> Carnegie<\/span> Hall<\/span> New<\/span> York,<\/span> and<\/span> Symphony<\/span> Hall<\/span> Boston<\/span>. <\/span><\/span>He<\/span> performs<\/span> regularly<\/span> in<\/span> festivals<\/span> throughout<\/span> the<\/span> world<\/span> and<\/span> is<\/span> the<\/span> Artistic<\/span> Director<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> International<\/span> Pharos<\/span> Chamber<\/span> Music<\/span> Festival<\/span> in<\/span> Cyprus<\/span> and<\/span> the<\/span> Yerevan<\/span> Music<\/span> Festival<\/span> in<\/span> Armenia<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>

\nAfter<\/span> initial<\/span> studies<\/span> in<\/span> Armenia,<\/span>\u00a0Chaushian<\/span> studied<\/span> in<\/span> the<\/span> UK<\/span> at<\/span> the<\/span> Menuhin <\/span>School<\/span> and<\/span> the<\/span> Guildhall<\/span> School,<\/span> London<\/span>.<\/span> He<\/span> then<\/span> pursued<\/span> advanced<\/span> studies<\/span> at<\/span> the <\/span>Hochschule<\/span> Berlin<\/span> graduating<\/span> with<\/span> distinction<\/span> in<\/span> 2005<\/span>.<\/span> He<\/span> is<\/span> a<\/span>\u00a0prize<\/span> winner<\/span> of <\/span>many<\/span> international<\/span> competitions<\/span> including<\/span> the<\/span> 12<\/span>th<\/span> International<\/span> Tchaikovsky<\/span> Competition <\/span>in<\/span> Moscow<\/span> and<\/span> the<\/span> ARD<\/span> Competition<\/span> in<\/span> Germany<\/span>.<\/span> As<\/span> an<\/span> alumnus<\/span> of<\/span> Young<\/span> Concert<\/span> Artists,<\/span> New<\/span> York,<\/span> he<\/span> toured<\/span> extensively<\/span> in<\/span> the<\/span> USA<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>

\nAmongst<\/span> the<\/span> many<\/span> distinguished<\/span> musicians<\/span> whom<\/span> he<\/span> has<\/span> collaborated<\/span> with<\/span> are<\/span> Yehudi <\/span>Menuhin,<\/span> Julia<\/span> Fischer,<\/span> Levon<\/span> Chilingirian,<\/span> Yuri<\/span> Bashmet<\/span>,<\/span> Diemut<\/span> Poppen,<\/span> Fran\u00e7ois<\/span>–Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric<\/span> Guy and <\/span>Emmanuel<\/span> Pahud<\/span>.<\/span> His<\/span> regular<\/span> chamber<\/span> music<\/span> partner<\/span> is<\/span> Yevgeny<\/span> Sudbin<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span> Alexander\u2019s<\/span> recordings<\/span> include<\/span> several<\/span> highly<\/span> acclaimed<\/span> CDs<\/span> for<\/span> the<\/span> BIS<\/span> label<\/span> in<\/span> which<\/span> he<\/span> is<\/span> partnered<\/span> by<\/span> Yevgeny<\/span> Sudbin,<\/span> and<\/span> his<\/span> recently<\/span> released<\/span> concerto<\/span> CD<\/span> with<\/span> the<\/span> Armenian<\/span> Philharmonic<\/span> Orchestra,<\/span> also<\/span> on<\/span> BIS,<\/span> received<\/span> rave<\/span> reviews<\/span> and<\/span> was<\/span> selected<\/span> \u2018Album<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> Week\u2019<\/span> by<\/span> the<\/span> Independent<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span> His<\/span> many<\/span> concerts<\/span> during<\/span> this<\/span> season<\/span> include<\/span> performances<\/span> in<\/span> France,<\/span> Italy,<\/span> Switzerland,<\/span> Brazil,<\/span> China<\/span> and<\/span> Japan<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
