Piotr Łykowski graduated in 1989 with honors from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, where he studied singing in the class of Professor Eugeniusz Sąsiadek. In 1988 he was awarded the First Prize and three other prizes (including the one for the virtuosity) at the 3rd Ada Sari Vocal Art Competition in Nowy Sącz. Thereafter, he has taken part in many vocal interpretation masterclasses in Poland as well as abroad.
Piotr Łykowski has performed numerous times as a soloist in almost every country in Europe. He is still cooperating with many artists, early music ensembles, chamber orchestras and international music festivals.
He is also a valued opera artist having participated in many Polish premieres by Glass, Krauze, Monteverdi, Neuwirth and Penderecki. Furthermore, he has recorded for the radio and TV as well as released various CDs with such works as Bononcini’s "Stabat Mater", Händel’s "Messiah", Peri’s "Euridice" and Preisner’s "Requiem for my friend".
Apart from his solo career, Piotr Łykowski teaches classical singing at the Ryszard Bukowski State Music School in Wrocław and at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, where he serves also as dean of the vocal department. He enjoys holding master classes having led the Oratorio and Cantata Interpretation Course in Wrocław for more than dozen years. Since 2013, he has served as the Chairman of The Polish Voice Teachers Association.
In 2004, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded him title of Professor in Music Arts.
