EAMT Symphony Orchestra

EAMT Symphony Orchestra (EAMT SO) is a launch pad for professional Estonian orchestral musicians. Over time, the orchestra has been conducted by most of the well-known Estonian conductors: Roman Matsov, Vallo Järvi, Peeter Lilje, Eri Klas, Vello Pähn, Paul Mägi, Jüri Alperten, Arvo Volmer, Andres Mustonen, Toomas Kapten, Toomas Vavilov, Risto Joost and Erki Pehk. The orchestra has performed under the baton of several foreign conductors, including Michel Tabachnik (Switzerland), Jin Wang (Austria), Colin Metters (England), Cecilia Rydinger Alin (Sweden) and Lutz Köhler (Germany).

Each season, the orchestra presents an average of seven programs and collaborates with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ERSO) in joint concerts. EAMT SO has received recognition on concert tours in Sweden, Finland, and Germany. On four occasions (2002, 2005, 2016, and 2023), the orchestra has performed at the Young Euro Classic festival in Berlin, bringing home the award for new compositions twice: in 2005 with Ülo Krigul’s “JenZeits” and in 2016 with Liisa Hirsch’s “Mechanics of Flying”.
