Arnas Mikalkėnas, a pianist, percussionist, composer and improviser, is a sound-conscious creator who seeks to transcend any musical framework and is looking for a distinctive relationship with music. He declares that his goal is to foster the non-commercial art of improvised music. His activities include not only the study of classical and jazz music, but also musique concrète, rock, metal and other genres.
Arnas Mikalkėnas teaches in Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Kaunas Juozas Gruodis conservatory and is co-founder of “Jazz Academy Kaunas”. Collaborated with Kenny Wollesen, Michael Moore, Lasse Lindgren, David Stackenas, Liudas Mockūnas, Yumiko Yoshimoto, Hakon Berre, Vladimir Tarasov, Eugenijus Kanevičius, Arkady Gotesman, Dalius Naujo etc. Arnas Mikalkėnas is member of experimental/improvised music trio “Oak Birches”. Arnas Mikalkėnas discography consists of 18 albums.
