Santiago Botero is a double bass player, composer, improviser and teacher. He is an active asset in the experimental music scene in Bogotá, Colombia, whose musical interests range from traditional cumbia and vallenato and jazz music to noise and punk rock sounds. These musical endeavors have led him to tour around the world to collaborate with different musicians and artists such as Tony Malaby, Peter Brötzmann, Kym Myhr, Ricardo Arias, Bram Stadhouders, Carmelo Torres, María Valencia, Ava Rocha, Negro Leo, Alba Fernanda Triana, Ricardo Gallo, Juanita Delgado, Katie Duck, Kike Mendoza, Ingebrigt Haker Flaten, Wade Matthews and Gustavo Nandayapa.
He is currently teaching bass and improvisation ensembles at the Javeriana University in Bogotá.
