Professor Yegana Akhundova, a distinguished People’s Artist of Azerbaijan and accomplished concert pianist, presently holds the position of Vice Rector of the International Relations Department at the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli. In addition to her administrative role, Professor Akhundova imparts knowledge on World and Azerbaijani Music Culture as a lecturer at Khazar University.
Her academic journey began at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory, where she completed her initial higher education in music. She further enhanced her academic credentials with an assistant-trainee degree from the Moscow State Conservatory. Professor Akhundova’s illustrious career is marked by extensive concert engagements, performing as a soloist with various symphony orchestras under the baton of multiple conductors across several continents, including North America, Europe, and Asia, notably in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Austria, Germany, France, Hungary, and China.
Her exceptional musical talent has been recognized with numerous accolades. Notably, she has received the “Golden Muse of Niagara” award in Canada and was named the “Most Successful Woman of the Year” by the Euro-American Women’s Council (EAWC) in Greece. In 2022, she was honored with a Grammy® ballot nomination for her album “Fikrat Amirov 100,” celebrating the centenary of the eminent Azerbaijani composer.
Currently, Professor Akhundova is also engaged in creative composition, continuing to contribute to the cultural landscape through both her performances and academic endeavors.
