Original title: Dramaturgiraamat: 13 intervjuud Eesti dramaturgidega. The book is in Estonian.
An actor acts, a director directs, a dramaturg …?
The difficulty of completing a sentence does not stem from the fact that a dramaturg
has no tasks in today’s Estonian theatre, but on the contrary – there are so many
that it is difficult to fit them into one sentence. The Dramaturgs’ Book is the first Estonian-language work that explores the concept
of contemporary dramaturgy at such depth. 13 Estonian practitioners reflect about their professional experiences, working methods, principles and visions for the future in these interviews.
The interviewees include playwrights, screenwriters, adaptations’ authors, production dramaturgs, dance dramaturgs and an adventure dramaturg. Most of the respondents work in multiple fields.
The book also includes an introduction by theatre researcher Luule Epner, in which she explores the multifaceted nature of the concept of dramaturgy.
The book is dedicated to Ingo Normet.
