Nordic and Baltic universities’ folk music conference NORDTRAD Tallinn 16. – 21.04.2024
NORDTRAD is a week full of workshops, get-togethers, new acquaintances, collaborations and a possibility to develop music education and collaborative playing skills. NORDTRAD joins together folk music curricula and the meetings have taken place since 1996, each year in a different country. Today the network consists of 14 higher music education institutions offering different study programmes ranging from bachelor to PhD level. The overall goal of the NORDTRAD network is to strengthen Nordic-Baltic higher music education within the field of folk music.
For Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, it’s the first time to host the network meeting. To the conference we expect altogether about 150 participants from the partner universities.
There are three concerts open to the public during the conference:

During the opening concert the best musicians of the Estonian folk music scene will perform on the stage and also folk music curricula students of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.

20.04 19.00 Great hall of EAMT – The final concert of Nordtrad: on the stage the folk music students of Nordic and Baltic universities

Everything they learn and all the music they create together will be designed into a performance for the final concert. Nobody knows what is really going to happen or sound from the stage, but we can be sure that it’s going to be fun, youthful, folkloric and once in a lifetime experience.
