
Anu Schaper is a music historian and has been a research fellow at EAMT since 2008; she is the managing editor of the scientific yearbook Res Musica as well as the managing editor of EAMT Press. She studied musicology and German Language and Literature (master’s degrees from Tartu and Freiburg universities). She defended her dissertation on Johann Valentin Meder (1649–1719) at the University of Freiburg in 2022, graduating summa cum laude. Her master’s and doctoral studies in Germany were funded by scholarships from the Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst. Her research topics mainly concern 17th- and early 18th-century music and musical life, as well as cultural transfer theory. She has conducted extensive archival work in Estonia, Latvia, Germany and Poland.
