In the book “Eduard Tubin’s Formative Years” Mihhail Gerts traces the early life of the composer – his origins, studies, first compositions and work as a conductor. He sheds light to relations with his relatives, teachers, friends and colleagues, thanks to whom a boy from a small village near Lake Peipus became an outstanding composer of the 20th century. Gerts also analyses Tubin’s early works and searches for the roots of his unique style.
