Admission

  • Submit a letter of motivation in PDF (max. 2000 words including name and contact details). The motivation letter should tell your unique story and show why the applicant wants to study Recording Arts and Music Production at EAMT.
  • Submit a portfolio showcasing the applicant’s creative and/or technical work. Submitted works should clearly indicate the applicant’s role in each project (e.g. producer, recording engineer, songwriter). The portfolio should be submitted in one of the following: PDF with URL links, Dropbox link, Google Drive link or Spotify playlist/link.
  • The admission committee reserves the right to make a preselection of students based on portfolio and motivation letter. The students admitted to the admission process should pass 2 listening tests and an interview with the admission committee.
  • The 1st listening test will assess familiarity with music from different periods and the 2nd listening test will assess the ability to analyze recorded material, to identify sonic characteristics, or to discuss production choices.
  • During the interview, the applicant can present work(s) from its portfolio for a maximum of 10 minutes. The examination committee may test the candidate’s knowledge in a specific field of interest and its orientation in general cultural issues (colloquium).

The examination committee will assess and take into account:

  • the originality of creative and technical works
  • the knowledge of audio recording, mixing & processing, including knowledge of DAWs, such as Ableton, Logic Pro and/or Pro Tools
  • the knowledge of music theory, music production, songwriting
  • the level of specific skills and abilities arising from the candidate’s profile
  • the candidate’s orientation in general cultural issues

PS: in particular circumstances, interviews over zoom will be allowed.
