Precarity of music professionals is not surprising us anymore. Complexities of the employment structures are becoming more and more challenging and students and young music professionals seek new ways of income, tapping into new, uncharted territories.

While the value of recorded music, previously one of the main pillars of musician’s income has crumbled, other sources have opened. Especially during the Pandemic new advances in music technology allow us to collaborate and compete on a global scale.

During this informative masterclass Markus Burger, a German born musicians who developed the Music Entrepreneurship program at San Diego State University will explore the question: How to turn a successful musical craft into a viable income source by developing flexible mindsets to adapt to new music income sources?

Markus Burger is a Director of Music Technology Studies, internationally renowned Concert Pianist, Recording Artist, former Record Label Executive and Educator. He has been a Professor at Fullerton College since 2005 and was responsible for all major upgrades to the Piano studies area as well as the Music Technology program he took over in 2009. The Music Technology program today serves about 350 students and is still growing.
