Rūta Lipinaitytė has studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and at the Malmö Academy of Music in Sweden under Prof. Alexander Fischer mastering her skills later on at Conservatoire de Paris under Prof. Boris Garlitzky. In 2004 she obtained her master’s degree under Prof. Raimundas Katilius and A/Prof. Undinė Jagėlaitė, and defended her doctoral thesis on principles of chamber orchestra performance at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
Rūta has won several Lithuanian and international violin and chamber music competitions such as the International Competition for Young Musicians “Petar Konjovic” in Belgrade (Grand Prix), Jascha Heifetz International Competition and International Competition “Remember G. Enescu” in Bucharest (5rd prize), First International Duo Competition of Sweden (2nd prize) and Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival’s Orchestra Academy. In 1998 Rūta was awarded the scholarship of the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe .
As a soloist, she has appeared with numerous orchestras including Dresden, Brno, Qatar Philharmonic, Croatian Radio Symphony, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and Kremerata Baltica, Tallinn, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Arkhangelsk and Moscow chamber orchestras.
She has done a number of recordings for Lithuanian Radio appearing as a soloist in front of several Lithuanian orchestras featuring renowned violin concertos by J. Achron, M. Rosza, S.Prokofjev, A. Khachaturian, A. Martinaitis and E. Balsys. In addition, she has recorded and released several CD’s with Lithuanian music.
Rūta Lipinaitytė was a member of Grammy-winning orchestra Kremerata Baltica, established and conducted by Gidon Kremer, from 1998 to 2014. From 2004 to 2009, she was a member of “Kremerata Baltica sextet” taking part in numerous festivals and concert appearances in Basel, Lockenhaus, Paris, Riga, Sigulda, Tallinn, Kuhmo, New York, Elba, Louisiana and elsewhere. Furthermore, her chamber music partners include such renowned artists as G. Kremer, T. Grindenko, M. Fedotova, A. Mustonen, A. Posch, P. Sadlo, J. Khoury, F. El-Hage, M. Lohuaru, L. Leiten, S. Lasmann, S. Krimer, L. Geniušas, Ū. Žebriūnaitė and The Čiurlionis String Quartet.
Rūta Lipinaitytė is the principal violin of the East-West Chamber Orchestra, founded by pianist Slava Krimer in 2015. The Ensemble is the Orchestra-in-residence at the Yuri Bashmet international music festival and performs with the soloists like J. Rachlin, D. Geringas, P. Badura-Skoda, K. Sidorova, M. Mercelli, S. Krylov, etc.
Rūta Lipinaitytė‘s teaching activity began in at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (2005-2008), but in 2012 she gained her professorship at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and is the head of strings there since 2015.
