For the fifth time, an international seminar aims to bring together composers, directors, conductors and singers to discuss what opera/music theatre means to them. This time the topic is new works in music theatre.
The seminar will start on the evening of 3 November with the premieres of works by the senior lecturer in audiovisual composition Einike Leppik and doctoral student Fabrizio Nastari at the EAMT Black Box. On 4 and 5 November, round tables and lectures will focus on the creation of new works in music theatre from the point of view of composers, dramaturgs, directors and artists. The seminar will be held in English. See the agenda HERE.
The first seminar “Opera as Imagination and Realisation” took place at EMTA in 2019. The second seminar premiered the opera “1982” for voice and piano by doctoral student Giovanni Albini, and the third the opera “Minnie” by doctoral student Tze Yeung Ho. The fourth seminar focused on the work of the director. The goal of the seminar is to help young composers, librettists, artists and others find their path in music theatre but also to observe, analyse and discuss creative processes, and new ideas emerging in the opera.
The seminar will take place in the framework of the activities of the Humanities and Arts section of the Estonian Doctoral School. Participants from all Estonian universities are welcome.
