AVERY GERHARDT (USA)

I work in performance, multimedia creation, video, installation, writing; in layering these mediums and stretching their possibilities. I’m thinking around loadbearing, how the everyday is stored in our bodies, what we choose to let go of and when. I obsess over responsibility, obligation, generosity, and greed. I know a good jump rope when I see one. I wonder what it’s like to rebel in the ways I would like to. Maybe tomorrow I’ll figure this out. My identity is political and so is yours. This much I know is true.

Raised in Houston, Texas, Avery is an independent maker and freelance performer of various disciplines. She is currently a resident choreographer for Motlee Party and is very honoured to be pursuing a masters in Contemporary Physical Performance Making at EAMT.
