LEAH GAYER (Germany/UK)

Leah is an actor, writer, theatremaker (RADA BA Hons Acting graduate) and co-founder and Artistic Director of the award-winning Theatre Company of Sanctuary and registered charity, Compass Collective. 

She has spent the last six years working professionally in theatre and film, whilst leading Compass. The company supports the integration of young refugees and asylum seekers through high quality creative productions. Her main focus has been as a producer, director, writer and dramaturg on original devised plays and short films. 

Compass now supports over 600 young people. Leah has led on over fifty fully funded, innovative projects,  platforming high quality work at leading arts venues, for both participatory and public benefits. She’s collaborated with the Shakespeare’s Globe, Leeds Playhouse, Midlands Arts Centre, Southwark Playhouse, Arcola Theatre, BAFTA, Somerset House, TATE, to name a few. They have reached an audience of over 500,000 people, including MP’s, local councillors and change-makers. They’ve performed at conferences seen by delegates from the Government and Home Office with the aim to inform policy change. Her work sits across a broad range of cultural contexts, including working on international arts projects in Sweden and Iraq. 

Leah is represented by Eamonn Bedford Agency. Her acting credits include: Alys Always at the (Bridge Theatre) dir Nicolas Hytner, Macbeth (Chichester Festival Theatre), Film: Prizefighters (Camelot Films) and for TV: Doc Martin (ITV), Bloodmoon (HBO), Doctors (BBC)

Also an avid writer, Leah completing the RADA Advances into Playwriting course in 2023 and was accepted into the Pentabus National Writers Group in 2024. Her play ‘Over Mum’s Dead Body’ was shortlisted for the prestigious Papatango Playwriting Prize.
