REBECCA MCCARTHY (USA)
Rebecca McCarthy is a choreographer and performer who began her formal training at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Wa. Following her time in Seattle, Rebecca earned her BFA at California Institute of the Arts and has been creating work in Los Angeles since 2015. Rebecca’s work has been presented at Redcat, Highways Performance Space and The Sharon Disney Lund Theater along with dance for camera works presented internationally. Rebecca also studied at London Contemporary Dance School where she had the opportunity to work with Kidd Pivot’s Crystal Pite during the creation of the new work Polaris, performed at Sadler’s Wells theater in London. She has also performed in works by two time Princess Grace Award winner Zoe Scofield, Kate Wallich, James Gregg, CalArts alumni Rebecca Lemme and Seattle’s Kt Niehoff. Recently, Rebecca trained with RUBBERBANdance in Quebec learning their codified RUBBERBAND Method. Rebecca is interested in making honest, engaging and challenging work. Rebecca is thrilled by everything exquisitely human, and is eager to observe the tension between the casual and the performative. She is also a photographer and video artist specializing in music and dance performance photography.
