Avery Gerhardt (1997) “I work in performance, multimedia, installation, and dramaturgy – in layering these mediums and rewiring their relationship. I'm thinking about loadbearing, how the everyday is stored in our bodies, what we choose to let go of and when. I have a soft spot for the Texas rodeo, cyborgs with acrylic nails, bad special effects, and sketch; things that are slightly overproduced and uncompromisingly committed to the bit.”
Avery is an independent maker and freelance performer from Houston. She is the resident choreographer for Motlee Party, a collective through which she develops work with close collaborators.
