Brass and Woodwind


Perform a programme consisting of the following:

  • A large form (sonata, variations, romantic ballades, or something comparable in length and substance);
  • A work for solo instrument.

*NB! The duration of the programme is 15-25 minutes for brass instruments and 20-35 minutes for wind instruments

 

Percussion


Perform a programme consisting of the following:

  • A large form (sonata, variations, romantic ballades, or something comparable in length and substance) or a movement from it, for any percussion instrument, with piano (or other) accompaniment;
  • At least one work for percussion solo (for one or more instruments).

*NB! The programme should have a duration of 25-35 minutes and should showcase the candidate’s abilities on various percussion instruments

 

After the performance the candidate will be interviewed by a panel of faculty members. During the interview, the examination panel may test the candidate’s knowledge of music and culture. The interview will provide the opportunity for the candidate to demonstrate the sufficiency of their English language skills.

The examination panel will evaluate the following:

  • fluency and precision
  • expressiveness
  • technical proficiency
  • familiarity with various musical styles
  • conveyance of personal expression
  • technical difficulty of the repertoire
  • general knowledge of music and culture
