Contemporary Physical Performance Making (CPPM)

The International MA in Contemporary Physical Performance Making (CPPM) is a two year advanced training course for professional performers and theatre makers from all disciplines who wish to develop, rethink and challenge their artistic processes and creative practices.

The course is unique in the way that the training puts practical experience of creating and collaborating at the heart of the learning process. Students will be taught by some of the most exciting international artists working today through intensive workshops, active collaboration, devising and performance. Uniquely, the course recasts the teacher-student relationship as one where everyone acts as fellow collaborators. The students will work closely as a company, mirroring the way in which these leading experts run their own rehearsal room and using their actual creative process. The aim of the course is to allow students to find their own unique artistic voice by introducing them to a variety of methods for making performance, developing their skills through a rigorous physical and vocal training, and understanding their artistic work in the context wider artistic theory, its history and key developments.

The terms are organised into two-three month blocks during which the students will work intensively at the school. These intensive blocks are followed by two month periods of vacation during which the students, although studying full time, can remain active with their own creative practices and companies.
