JESON JOY (India)
Jeson Joy (2001) is a performer, director and choreographer with a rich background in theatre and physical performance. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies, English and Psychology from a comprehensive three-year course. He completed “Body and Performance,” a physical theatre course from Moving Parts, working mainly at the intersection of dance, physical theatre and performance art.
Joy received a scholarship specialising in Indian Contemporary dance under the Aayana School of Dance and Madness, and trained in clowning. He worked as a theatre resource person at Freedom International School (affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education) and conducted sensitisation programmes and theatre workshops for children with autism and learning disabilities through Flute Theatre and the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS).
The prospect of delving into the world of physical and movement theatre excites him greatly; he is drawn to art that not only entertains but also provokes thought, invites dialogue, and celebrates the richness and complexity of human experience.
