OSKAR MOORE (Latvia)

Oskar Moore (1998) is a contemporary performance maker and performer from Riga, Latvia. Now, after studies in CPPM, he’s evolving from the field of contemporary dance and choreography into the field of contemporary performance making. Because of his background, Oskar enjoys thinking through the body. However, Oskar is passionate about creating multi-disciplinary concept-based performances, combining the strengths of various art forms and engaging with a wider range of audiences.

He is currently interested in noticing, observing and studying interrelations between things in life, developing performative structures that can hold those interrelations and finding ways to let these interrelational networks unfold in front of an audience.

Oskar’s artistic approach integrates movement, acting, text, visual arts and live sound technology (including modular synthesizers) to create a multi-sensory experience for both performer and audience.

Oskar began his professional training at the Latvian Academy of Culture (LKA), starting in stage acting in 2018 before transitioning to contemporary dance choreography, from which he graduated from the Bachelor degree programme in 2022. His movement philosophy centres on the idea that movement makes it possible to experience what cannot be expressed through words, emphasising the connection between physical and emotional perception.

His first full-length solo piece, “Loop&Engine,” premiered on 19 June 2024 at the Latvian Railway History Museum.
