SEREN OROSZVARY (Australia)
Seren Oroszvary (1994) is an actress, voice-over artist and performance artist currently based in Tallinn. Her background is Hungarian and Irish, though she grew up on the Mornington Peninsula in Australia. From age seven, she was training in theatre and screen in Melbourne — including years at the Peninsula Acting School, Verve Studios, VCA and NIDA Actors Studio, alongside a formative decade with the Young Australian Broadway Chorus (YABC). Her early career saw her deeply embedded in the Melbourne arts scene; while completing a BA in Creative Writing at The University of Melbourne, she ran Balloon Head Theatre Company and performed at landmark venues including La Mama, The National Theatre St Kilda, Chapel Off Chapel, Melbourne Recital Centre and the Guild Theatre. At 16 she was also notably shortlisted for the Bell Shakespeare Regional Scholarship.
In 2017 Seren relocated overseas, trained at the Copenhagen Film & Theatre School and performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Almeida Theatre's From The Ground Up. After establishing her practice in the UK and Denmark, she completed the Master's in CPPM at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre 2019–2021. Since then, she has continuously nurtured her artistic relationship with Estonia through various voice-over, film and performance art projects. Seren has steadfastly led an international ensemble across four residencies at Copper Leg Art Residency in Vaskjala, dedicating herself to the cultural community there while developing her long-term master's project, A Body To Dwell, produced by elektron.art, which will premiere in September 2026.
Since CPPM she has worked for Punchdrunk (UK), Secret Cinema (UK), Netflix (UK) and Apple TV (UK), been artist in residence at Blast Theory Studios, and done voice-over for Estonian commercials such as Bolt, Tallink Silja Line, the Baltic Fish Association and the City of Tartu, as well as the award-winning short animation BREED (2024) and Kristjan Ingimarsson Company (DEN). With 20+ years of experience on stage, Seren continues to travel and perform internationally; her most recent projects include The Thin Place (Teatret ved Sorte Hest, Denmark), Kikimora (Kanuti Gildi Saal, Estonia), the upcoming films Decay of Strawberry Moon (allfilm, Estonia) and Carlos Lesmes' Paraiso, Outer Space (Tin Can, Estonia), as well as CPH Stage Festival 2025 + 2026 and TALFF 2026 The Tallinn Feminist Forum.
In her own theatre making, Seren delves into magic realism and surreal expression, influenced by ways of stretching perceptions of object, nature, landscape and the subconscious — a fascination rooted in the rural climate of her upbringing.
