The interdisciplinary seminar aims to bring together librettists, dramaturgs, composers, directors, conductors, and singers to discuss, what does opera/ music theatre mean for them, which experiences they have. The goal of the seminar is to help young composers, librettists et al. find their path in music theatre. The first seminar took place in October 2019, the second seminar in April 2021.

Presentations and round tables are in English with Uljas Pulkkis (Helsinki), Tze Yeung Ho, Giovanni Albini (Alessandria/Lugano), Bettina Bartz (Berlin), Linda Gabrielsen (Oslo), Matthias Hermann (Stuttgart), Liis Kolle (Frankfurt) et al.

Participation is free of charge. Registration has ended.

Seminar includes two opera performances:

20 October 19:00 Tze Yeung Ho, chamber opera “minn(i)e” (libretto Maarja Kangro, Linda Gabrielsen, Chapman Chen), premiere – Sakala 3

21 October 18:00 Giovanni Albini, opera for bass and piano “1982” (text Giuseppe Varaldo)

ECTS: 3 ECTS if you participate all the seminar sessions, 2 performances and write an essay (the topic will be given in the beginning of the seminar).
2 ECTS if you participate all the seminar sessions and 2 performances.
